Recently got to work on a project with Craig Stecyk III & Jason Maloney... what an honor it was. For those of you not familiar with Stecyk's work, Here you go.
I was asked to design a QR code, theatre concept along with an installation light for the premier of Stecyk's new short film "FIN" that will happen Feb 8th in the H Space Gallery at the Hurley HQ in Costa Mesa. The QR code was going to be used on bus stop posters and some other mailers. My goal was to take the staleness from the normal small QR codes that you see in the corner of almost every ad nowadays and turn it into something visually appealing and intriguing. We ended up doing 2 different posters for the bus stops. One with a little more subtle QR code and the other one we played on the natural curiosity factor of human nature. I am very pleased with the way they came out and it was a nice undertaking and learned a lot about what you can and can't do with these tricky little codes.
Take a look at the posters and Mr. Stecyk himself enjoying the streets of CM after the jump
As for the theatre design... stay tuned
