I was turned onto the Neistat brothers a little over a year ago, and if you have seen any of their short films, you know it wasn't soon enough. I have to thank my buddy Issy for opening my eyes. Enough babble, so I came across Casey Neistat's youtube page the other day and saw his take on instagram. Perfect F'ing timing, since I have just been thinking about my account @theryanclemens (selfish plug, but who cares) and how to grow and also keep it pure. Pretty much nailed it on the head. Trust me, all you killers of the instagram will know who you are. #quitit

This kid is legit! Caine's arcade is back with a new video and more inspiration and world changing ideas. Caine has grown leaps and bounds since I first read about him, and I didn't expect anything less from this kid. The world has already helped raise over $200,000 for Caine's Scholarship and it is not being matched dollar for dollar for a new foundation called the Imagination Foundation. Creativity of kids is what makes the world go round (and keeps us from being grumpy old farts who hate their jobs) and is what helped me enjoy what I do today, this foundation makes sure that we don't lose that.
October 6th the Imagination Foundation will launch a Global Cardboard Challenge. This event will help raise funds to foster the creativity and entrepreneurship in kids. Check it out. www.cardboardchallenge.com

Tomorrow morning I will get up way to early to head out to a land of unknown, college football tailgating. If you know you I am pretty sure you are shocked that I have never been to a tailgate party, I mean it involves yard games and drinking beer at odd hours in the day. Well, Saturday is the day. I have been invited by one of my best friends (Nebraska fan) to a Nebraska VS. UCLA football game at the great Rose Bowl Stadium, most hipsters will know it as the place that has the really over priced flea market. I will be fully loaded with PBR and a backpack full of Hell Yes, Please Koozies for those who ask for one. Oh yeah, go Nebraska ( I love controversy) !
Knots are out and bows are in, haven't you heard? Friend and old Hurley co-worker Matt Baker is a wizard behind the sewing machine and he proves it with his latest venture, M.G. BAKER CO. Baker decided to jump off the action sports train and go into the land of upscale neck flare, and he is doing a damn good job at it. These aren't your normal tuxedo shop bullshit, these are the real deal... tie it your damn self. The nice thing about these bow ties besides the fact that each fabric is used in limited runs is all of the M.G. Dusted off the 'ole GOCCO printer the other day and started up a little printing press at the house. Forgot how satisfying it is to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty. I thought if I am going to ship out some orders and some sticker packs they might as well look good going through our great postal service. Well the ink has dried and they have been filled with goodies and sent off to see the world... even Paris for one lucky package. Pure love for my country never gets stronger than when the Olympics come around! Watching these athletes compete for what they have been training for there whole lives always turns me into a kid on Christmas. Here is the fact though, when it comes down to it... we all want our country to win the most golds and in the end, the most medals. If you don't believe this, you are lying to yourself. This one is simple, I drink beer and I don't like it warm... So here it is. Check out the store to get your own koozie that is better than the one the douche next to you has. Trust me though, he will like the one you have and still hand you a couple free beers if you pretend to be interested in his useless conversation.
Last weekend I was in an art show for Hurley called Blacked Out. Here is one of the pieces I did for the show. The title of this piece is called "Airborne Ranger" This piece was based off a very respectable co-worker of mine... He was an Airborne Ranger. The part that will help explain this piece a little better is the fact that his office is all white, and I mean ALL white. He has a blank canvas behind his desk, acrylic chairs, acrylic desk, and a single white "designer" toy. He gets it, a true believer of negative space. So this one is for you Jeb, I salute you.
So that is the back story. Now a little more about the work. this was the first time I have glued up acrylic and let me tell you... it is truly and art form and I have a whole new respect for those who work daily with this delicate yet bitch of a material. I wired 5 Fluorescent lights together but cover over two to give a shadow. If you didn't see my below post about the show it was all based off of two colors. I decided to use shadows and light to create the two colors for this one. In the end I was glad I added the acrylic case around it, no matter how frustrated I got. Oh and I managed not to shock myself on this one.
During my daily and sometimes twice daily relaxation time I browse the instagram network and have come across some rogue Hell Yes, Please sightings the haven't been tagged with #hellyesplease... How are we supposed to give you credit, and maybe a handsome reward for sighting and documenting your wonderful and needless to say perfectly photographed image. So do the right thing and use that Number sign for what originally intended for... Hashtag that shit. All of you know hashtagging is the new street art, and it gets you more followers.
It's like Christmas over here and we are ready to spread the love with the start of our USELESS NOVELTIES series. The first of these little gems is the the best car wingman a guy could have. Broke out the paint brush for this show. I will have two pieces showing in this group show, one paint and the other a light installation. Pretty excited to have the light piece in here. First time I have showed one besides the BLISSS Mag spreads. Come out and enjoy a cold PBR and some "fine" art.

I am currently designing and building at light installation for Hurley and needed to make a list for some of the materials. I got tired of writing, and my penmanship is pretty much that of a 4th graders, so I decided to just go back go caveman hieroglyphics and doodle each part needed
Just a little peak of the piece I did for the Hurley "Blacked Out" art show coming up in June. The concept of the show was based on Hurley's latest board short the Block Party, which is a solid short with 2 stripes of different color around one leg, a very clean looking short. Black, White and a color of our choice were the requirements. I have been doodling out different ideas in my handy Field Notes and trying a couple different approaches. As you can see from the above image... it's not my normal style. I figured what better time than now to evolve, bring back the space I enjoy so much... negative space.
